This Pride, the Strathcona County Museum & Archives will host a Community Gathering and Pride Paint Night to celebrate local queer voices.

We will be welcoming performers and queer organizations from Strathcona County and surrounding areas

SCHEDULE

9:30   AM     Pride Flag Raising at the Agora)

10:00 AM     Doors open for drop-in activities

11:30 AM     EVM Choir 

4:00   PM      Doors close for drop-in activities​

7:00  PM       Pride Paint Night

ACTIVITIES

Stop by throughout the day to take part in our hands-on activities, visit our pride exhibit, and meet local queer organizations

Paint Night

Celebrate Pride at the Strathcona County Museum & Archives. Led by local artist Andrea Krahn, this ticketed Pride-themed Paint Night invites participants to enjoy a relaxed, welcoming art activity in the museum after hours.

All supplies and a complimentary drink included for just $40/person.

A portion of proceeds will support the AltView Foundation.

Pride exhibit

Our new Pride exhibit for June pays homage to the original 1978 Pride flag and features community responses to prompts about pride, belonging, and connection. Visitors can also learn more about the history of the rainbow flag and local queer history throughout June.

Nous reconnaissons les terres et territoires traditionnels des peuples autochtones qui ont vécu sur ces terres et en ont pris soin depuis des temps immémoriaux. Nous reconnaissons respectueusement que nous sommes sur le territoire du Traité n° 6, des terres connues sous le nom d’Amiskwaciy, ce qui signifie « les collines des castors » en cri. Cette région a été importante pour les Néhiyawak, les Niitsitapi, les Tsuut’ina, les Anishinaabe, les Nakota Sioux et, plus tard, les Métis. Plusieurs autres tribus, y compris les Inuits, ont voyagé et récolté sur ces terres. Nous reconnaissons leur gestion collective. Nous sommes tous des citoyens visés par un traité et nous vivons ensemble sur ces terres.
