Activities change throughout the year and may pause or shift when a special event is taking place. Saturdays All ages Collage Night Get creative and make something uniquely yours! Create your own collage using vintage magazines, newspapers, ephemera, and more. Join us once a month for a relaxed evening of creativity and conversation. All ages welcome! This free 1.5-hour speaker series, presented in partnership with the Archaeological Society of Alberta (ASA), features a different guest speaker each month exploring a variety of archaeological topics. Tea and coffee will be served. No registration required — just drop in and join us! Once a month All Ages Trivia Nights Gather your team and put your knowledge to the test! Join us for a new trivia theme each month, with questions ranging from history and pop culture to fun facts and everything in between. Connie will guide participants step by step as they create their own beaded Orange Shirt pin. Connie is an Edmonton-based artist whose intricate beadwork is rooted in healing, storytelling and sharing Métis culture. She regularly leads community workshops, and her work is held in collections across Canada and internationally. Tea will be served during the workshop. Each event includes a 30–40-minute presentation followed by a Q&A. Admission is by donation . Wind Beneath Their Wings Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. Presented by author Kimberly Fraser. Drawing from her book, Wind Beneath Their Wings: One Hundred Years of Flight in and around Canada’s Oldest Operating Airport , Kimberly will share stories of the pioneers, bush pilots and aviation adventures connected to Cooking Lake Airport.

Explore Spooky Strathma this October with a medieval exhibit, family dances, an escape room, D&D Night, a market and more in Sherwood Park. October 3 - 31, 2026 Spooky Strathma returns this October—and this year we’re going medieval. Each year, we transform the museum with a new theme, displays and activities. Wander through a medieval village, try the museum-wide quest and visit a special exhibit about Sherwood Park’s own Medieval Days celebrations. Come during regular museum hours or join us for one of the special events happening throughout October. Regular museum admission and most events are by donation. Ticketed events are marked below. From Sherwood Forest to Sherwood Park: The Story of Medieval Days Take a look back at Sherwood Park’s original Medieval Days, held from 1964 to 1967. The exhibit includes archival photographs, newspaper articles, artifacts, costumes and memories from people who were there. Admission by donation. Special Exhibit Open October 3 - 31 Spooky Strathma Events October 2, 2026 7:00 - 10:00 pm Sip & Paint Night Join local artist Andrea Krahn for an evening of painting at Strathma. Andrea will guide the group through the painting, and you’ll take your finished piece home at the end of the night. Your ticket also includes one drink. $35 per person | Advance tickets required October 8, 2026 5:30 - 8:30 pm Roll for the Realm: D&D Night With the museum going medieval for October, it’s a fitting time for a night of Dungeons & Dragons. Come roll the dice, meet other players and spend the evening at Strathma. Held in collaboration with and sponsored by Mythic Comics & Collectibles . Admission by donation.RSVP required. October 10, 2026 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Makers of the Realm: Medieval Market Local makers and vendors will be set up at Strathma for a one-day medieval market. Stop in to browse, visit the medieval village and see our special exhibit about Sherwood Park’s original Medieval Days. Mysteries of the Real: 18+ Medieval Escape Room October 23 & 24, 2026 7:00 - 10:00 pm Spend the evening working through clues and puzzles in our 18+ medieval escape room. See if you can solve the mystery before time runs out. The escape room will run on both Friday and Saturday night, and your ticket includes food and one drink. $45 per person | Advance tickets required October 16 & 17, 2026 6:00 - 9:00 pm Kids of the Realm: Family Halloween Dance Party Put on your Halloween costume and bring the family to Strathma for an evening of music and dancing. The museum will be decorated for Spooky Strathma, with this year’s Medieval Days theme throughout. The murals covering the skatepark were designed with input and participation from local youth. The diversity of styles, motifs, and colours goes to show just how unique their stories and experiences of growing up in Ardrossan are sunny! Co-curated by Connie, the exhibit follows her journey into Metis traditions and her own identity as a modern Metis artist. Notre Strathcona County Galerie des photos Current Local Artist Spotlight: Denise Gagnon About the Artist Denise Gagnon, a lifelong resident of Sherwood Park, Alberta, paints to honour the earth’s quiet wonders. Inspired by nature, photography, and travel, she captures fleeting moments of beauty, inviting viewers to pause, connect with nature, and feel the deep, timeless bond between light, land, and soul. About the Artwork “Echoes of the Homeland” reflects the spirit and character that have shaped Strathcona County—both its people and its landscape, past and present. It speaks to the community’s deep-rooted sense of belonging, its resilience through changing seasons, and the steadfast hard work that has carried generations forward. These enduring values continue to shine across the prairie, reminding us of who we are and where we come from. The mural should be a design that enhances the space, inspires community engagement, and reflects the unique spirit of Strathcona County. Themes could include: Local History and Heritage - Celebrate Strathcona County’s history, culture, and traditions. This could include historical landmarks, significant figures, or cultural movements that have shaped the community. Example: A mural depicting the evolution of Strathcona County, from its early days to the modern era, featuring elements like agriculture, indigenous heritage, or industrial development. Nature and Environment - The natural landscapes and ecosystems of Strathcona County. The area’s rivers, parks, and green spaces could be central to th e mural. Example: A depiction of the local wildlife, forests, rivers, or seasonal changes in the region, capturing the harmony between nature and human activity. Futurism and Growth - Explore the future of Strathcona County and how it is evolving. This theme can focus on technological advancements, sustainability, and urban development. Example: A futuristic vision of Strathcona County, with imagery of modern architecture, renewable energy, and interconnected communities, showing how the area is adapting to the future. Abstraction and Geometry - Incorporate abstract forms and geometric shapes that can both engage viewers and enhance the architectural features of the lobby space. Example: A dynamic mural filled with geometric patterns, flowing lines, or vibrant color fields that could represent the flow of energy or movement through the community. Our displays rotate twice a year, offering a dynamic opportunity for artists to showcase their work and interact with a diverse audience. In addition to the mural, artists selected are welcome to display and sell their work, providing a platform to connect with the community and share their creative expressions. Artists will receive an honorarium of $200 and 100% of the proceeds. Strathma will not make any profit from these sales. Visit us to enjoy the rotating art and be part of an ever-changing cultural experience.
